We are proud to announce a historic achievement for Brazilian Journalism Research (BJR): we have risen in the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) and now hold the 2nd position among Communication journals in Latin America and the 1st place in Brazil.
The SCImago Journal Rank is one of the leading international metrics for assessing the quality of scientific journals. This milestone recognizes the continuous efforts of our editorial team, authors, and reviewers who work together to uphold the excellence of BJR. It also reaffirms our commitment to promoting relevant, innovative, and high-impact research in the fields of Journalism and Communication.
For our executive editor, Laura Storch, this international recognition demonstrates the solidity of the journal's trajectory and the collective effort of researchers from different parts of the world, reaffirming BJR's role as a space of excellence in the field. According to her, achieving Q2 in SJR with an index of 0.34 reinforces the impact and relevance of the scientific production published in the journal.
This accomplishment comes at a special time: in 2025, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of BJR. Therefore, this result is not only a recent achievement but also the consolidation of two decades dedicated to strengthening academic research in Brazil and Latin America.
We thank everyone who has been part of this journey. We will continue working to ensure that BJR remains a national and international reference in Communication and Journalism studies.
